September 2017

Mag's stone at Pant Glas.

My friend Mags had a stone lying by the side of her driveway, and she asked me if I could put it up in an appropriate place for her. I went to visit the stone, and found that by rolling it along and then standing it up, it could both be seen, to welcome in visitors, and face on to the Midsummer sunrise each year.

We agreed that the New Moon just before the Autumn Equinox would be a fitting time for this work, and a small team of people were asked to come along and help. We started work at 10.30 in the morning, and all went very smoothly, resulting in the stone being in place by lunchtime! I used rollers and levers to do all the moving, and 2-4 people to help.

We finished with some ceremony, smudging the stone with sacred incense and tobacco, then "singing" to it with a didgeridoo, very low sounds that seem to suit stones! We also gathered round it and all touched it, and sang with our voices too, welcoming it to its new place. It now stands there, strong and happy, welcoming Mags and all to Pant Glas.

I got it onto rollers.

then into its new hole.

and then upright with a happy crew of Mods! [Megalithic Order of Druids.] Next: October 2017
